Planned Respite Services for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

What is Respite Care?

Stacey’s Place Charitable Services believes Respite while necessary for the full-time caregiver is also an opportunity to serve and engage the adult with special needs in a welcoming home environment where they can try out new home-life skills such as grocery shopping, meal preparation, party planning and room keeping.

Adults will have an opportunity for activities ranging from leisure and recreation to social engagement and personal skill development such as cooking, reading, and home life skills. Activities will be determined together by the caregiver, client, and respite provider.

Who needs Respite?

While respite is often a time for the adult to spend time some place else, it is most important for the caregiver to relax and recharge from their 24/7 caregiving job. Respite should be an intentional and regularly scheduled time for the caregiver to rest and rejuvenate at home or away.

What does Stacey’s Place Charitable Services do?

Some caregivers already have relationships with respite provides and are using COMP or NOW waivers to pay for services. Unfortunately, these government services are limited. Likewise, personal funds sometimes gets tight and affording a respite provider can be difficult.

Stacey’s Place Charitable Services partners with community providers and business to create respite events as well as funding community partners who are already serving the community of individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Stacey’s Place Charitable Services, Inc. is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization, EIN #84-2419002, established in the State of Georgia as a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation on June 28, 2019.
